I've got two more reviews up at Graphic Novel Reporter this week. You can check out my thoughts on The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger - The Journey Begins and The Art of Drew Struzan. The Journey Begins follows on the heels of Robin Furth's and Peter David's first five-volume story arc recounting the early days of Roland Deschain. This book moves the narrative ahead a decade, introducing readers to an older Roland. The time in-between is recounted via flashbacks, which pick up the pieces from The Battle of Jericho Hill and set the stage for a round of new stories to bridge the gap between these on-going comics and the original Stephen King novels.
The Art of Drew Struzan is a behind-the-scenes look presented by the artist himself. Struzan is responsible for presenting some of the very best movie posters of Hollywood's biggest franchises, such as the Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Back to the Future series. He has done some truly awesome work throughout his career and, if you're unfamiliar with him, now is a great time to dig into his extensive portfolio.
